BEHIND THE BRUSH
I am a visual artist based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Painting and experimenting in different mediums has been an interest but watercolors has become a passion and a big part of my life in the last decade. I am so glad the medium discovered me!! In my work, I aim to suggest a luminous art de vivre! My painting philosophy is reflected with my connection with colors and how a particular subject relates to me on an emotional level. My signature painting style is to paint loose and I strive to create images that attract the viewer by virtue of their simplicity. Travelling and living in varied places in different parts of the world has shaped my outlook as an artist and provided inspiration in my paintings in an unique way. In addition to watercolors, the Madhubani and Warli style of paintings- the popular folk art from India is another interest, as are egyptian paintings, ceramics and jewelry making. I take inspiration from the great watercolorists and painters of my time and some of my favorites include Robert Wade, Tony Couch, Milind Mulick and Sterling Edwards. Their work inspires me deeply and motivates me to move on and do better. Travel, changing of seasons, live music, flowers, butterflies, dogs (esp. my layla) and people who follow their dreams is the other source of joy for me. I plan to continually add more work as I keep on this journey, so I hope you enjoy your stay on my page, leave your mark and do come back again and often!!
